High-Scoring Weekend Nets UCSB's Alyssa Marin Big West Player of the Week Honors

  • 8134Helping UC Santa Barbara to a weekend split, Gaucho Alyssa Marin earned Big West Player of the Week honors. This is a second career nod, also claiming the award during the 2023-24 non-conference segment on Dec. 4. 

  • Marin opened the week with a career-high tying 31 points in a seven-point setback to Nevada on Thursday. The guard from Camarillo, Calif., was 8-of-16 from the floor and sunk four three-pointers while going 11-of-13 from the free throw line. 

  • In Sunday’s 86-76 win against San Jose State, the guard again finished with 31 points, this time connecting on a career-high 22 free throws on 25 attempts, or 88.0 percent.  

  • The fifth-year player has made 39 total free throws this season, tops in NCAA Division I, and rates sixth in The Big West with an 86.7 percentage from the stripe.
