IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West has named Quentin Rodriguez as an Assistant Director of Strategic Communications, announced today by commissioner Dan Butterly.
Rodriguez will bolster The Big West’s strategic communications team in a newly created position to provide support and service to the growing number of sports and championships in the league.
“We are excited to bring Quentin Rodriguez on board with The Big West,” said Butterly. “His energy and enthusiasm for college sports will help us continue to expand our efforts in communicating the mission and vision of The Big West and assist our team in telling the impactful stories of Big West student-athletes, coaches, alumni and administrators in new and fresh ways.”
Rodriguez joins the staff after serving as the sports information graduate assistant at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass. In the role at Endicott, Rodriguez was the primary communications contact for eight varsity sports. He also created content across various social media platforms to highlight Endicott’s athletics department as well as providing additional support to the alumni relations and college social media accounts.
Rodriguez also brings experience on the national championship stage after developing and executing a social media content plan for both the 2023 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women's Ice Hockey National Championships.
While at Endicott, Rodriguez was chosen as one of two Division III recipients of the NCAA Inclusion CSC Convention Grant, an award created to advocate for diversity within the athletic communications profession. The program includes a visit to the NCAA national office and pairs grant recipients with a CSC mentor for the upcoming academic year, along with CSC Convention attendance.
Before his stay in New England, Rodriguez got his start in college athletics at Central Florida. While at UCF, Rodriguez worked in the strategic communications office, providing publicity for the football, volleyball, and softball programs. He also worked as a student reporter for UCF Knight News covering the football team through social and traditional media methods.
Rodriguez's other relevant experiences in the field include a social media internship with the Orlando Predators and a marketing coordinator position with Kissimmee Main Street in his hometown. Rodriguez is also a proud Eagle Scout and has served in the scouting community for nearly ten years.
Rodriguez recently graduated this past spring from Endicott with a master’s degree in sports leadership. He earned his bachelor’s degree in social sciences with a minor in sport business management from UCF in 2021.
“I am extremely humbled and grateful for the opportunity to join The Big West family,” said Rodriguez. “The opportunity to work with the membership and engage the media and fans alike is very exciting.”
Quentin is set to join The Big West team on July 17.
