Thirteen student-athletes representing five member-institutions were honored as selections on the 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men’s and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators and announced Tuesday.
The program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Leading the way in The Big West, UC San Diego totalled seven selections. Long Beach State had three honorees, and CSU Bakersfield, CSUN and UC Santa Barbara each placed one student-athlete on the Division I Academic All-District® list.
This year, the academic qualifications for distinction have been strengthened, with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average required. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games this season, and should be a starter or important reserve on the field of play. All Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA - will be announced in mid-March.
College Sports Communicators began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored more than 38,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.
