Hunter Hernandez, UC Irvine  Women's Basketball Player of the Week  Sophomore • Guard • San Jose, Calif.

• UC Irvine’s Hunter Hernandez led the Anteaters to a pair of double-digit road wins to claim Big West Player of the Week for the second time in the 2022-23 campaign. The sophomore also garnered recognition on Jan. 23.  

• Hernandez averaged 20.5 points while shooting 56 percent from the field and 92 percent at the free throw line to go along with 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game on the week.  

• In Thursday’s contest at Cal Poly, the guard from San Jose, Calif., went off for a career-high 25 points (7-13 FG, 9-10 FT) to go along with three steals in 26 minutes on the court against the Mustangs.  

• Saturday, Hernandez led all players with 16 points on a 7-of-12 shooting performance and pulled down six rebounds at UC Riverside.  

• Hernandez has reached the double-digit scoring mark in nine of UC Irvine’s last 10 games and is leading the Anteaters in points (11.8) and rebounds (5.7) per game on the year. UC Irvine is currently slotted in second place in The Big West standings, a half game back from Long Beach State with three weekends remaining in the regular season.
