IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West has determined championship site selections for the first three years of its relaunched softball and baseball championships starting after the 2025 regular seasons.
The 2025 Big West Softball Championship will be contested at Anderson Family Field on the campus of Cal State Fullerton, May 7-10, 2025. The championship will feature the top six teams in action in a double-elimination format. Cal State Fullerton will also host the 2026 championship May 6-9, 2026. The event then shifts to the LBSU Softball Complex on the campus of Long Beach State on May 12-15, 2027. The winner of each event will claim The Big West’s automatic berth in the NCAA Division I Softball Championship.
Cal State Fullerton’s Goodwin Field will play host to the 2025 Big West Baseball Championship on May 21-25. Five teams will qualify for the championship, which features a play-in game before the final four teams clash in a double-elimination tournament. UC Irvine’s Cicerone Field at Anteater Ballpark is the site of the 2026 championship on May 20-24. Long Beach State will host the 2027 edition of the Big West Baseball Championship May 26-30 at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field. The champion of each event will earn the Big West’s automatic berth in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.
The Big West membership preferred to hold the events at campus locations rather than a neutral site facility. As such, Big West institutions submitted competitive bids for hosting these championships. Sites were selected by a subcommittee consisting of representatives of all 11 Big West member institutions.
“Since I came to The Big West in 2020, fans have clamored for softball and baseball championships to be added to the roster of Big West Championships once again, so we are pleased to announce the future sites starting in 2025,” Big West Commissioner Dan Butterly said. “The Big West provides boundless opportunities in the classroom, in competition and in life. These events will give our talented student-athletes an exciting post-season championship to showcase their talents, compete for a Big West title and secure automatic qualification to their respective NCAA Championship.”
With the announcement of these championship site locations, all 23 Big West sports will have a post-season championship during the 2024-25 academic year.
Ticket information, game times and broadcast details will be announced later.
