True freshman Kaitlyn Elsholz led CSUN to its first 2-0 start since the 2014-15 season to claim the year’s first Big West Player of the Week for 2023-24.

Elsholz averaged 20.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in two games off the bench as the Matadors downed Utah State and Seattle U at home.

In the CSUN debut against the Aggies, the guard scored 18 points to go with five steals, two blocks and a pair of assists in a 79-64 win.

Thursday, the Peoria, Ariz., native went on to score a game-high 22 points in a come-from-behind overtime win over the Redhawks. Elsholz helped the Matadors erase an 18-point deficit, scoring nine points in the fourth quarter to help force overtime. In the bonus period, Elsholz scored seven to secure the victory. As a team, Seattle U only mustered six points in overtime.

Elsholz also finished with seven boards, three assists and two steals to go with 5-of-6 shooting from the free throw line in the 81-72 victory.
