The Big West Announces ESPN Basketball Schedule

IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West announced eight games will be televised nationally on ESPN networks during the 2023-24 men’s basketball season, headlined by a contest featuring the league’s top two returners on the court on the opening night of Big West action.

The ESPN linear network schedule includes five regular-season conference matchups and the final three games at the 2024 Hercules Tires Big West Men’s Basketball Championship.

All five regular-season Big West contests will appear on ESPN2 or ESPNU, and four of the five games will be selected through a “wildcard” format in which pairings will be determined and announced no later than 10 days prior to each contest.

ESPNU will feature a Big West conference opener on Thursday, December 28, as UC Davis plays host to UC Santa Barbara with reigning Big West Player of the Year Ajay Mitchell of UC Santa Barbara pitted against the nation’s top non-transfer returning scorer Elijah Pepper of UC Davis. Three wildcards are also set to air on ESPNU on January 13, February 1 and February 22. ESPN2 will showcase a Saturday night tilt on March 2 in the penultimate weekend of the regular season.

Additionally, ESPN networks will televise both Big West men’s semifinal matchups at the 2024 Hercules Tires Big West Basketball Championships on Friday, March 15 and the championship game on Saturday, March 16.

Along with these eight contests on the linear ESPN networks, all additional Big West men’s and women’s basketball games throughout the 2023-24 regular season and championship will air live on ESPN+, the leading sports streaming service.
