CSUN Forward Tess Amundsen Honored as Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

  • Tess Amundsen averaged 22.5 points and 4.5 made three-pointers per game as CSUN split a pair of road contests, giving the graduate student a second career Big West Player of the Week distinction.
  • The forward first scored 17 points to share the game high in a 73-57 defeat at the University of San Diego on Tuesday night, shooting 7-of-12 from the floor and 3-of-5 from three-point range while adding three rebounds and a steal over 31 minutes played.
  • In leading the Matadors to their first win of the 2022-23 campaign on Saturday at Seattle U, 97-90, Amundsen provided a game- and season-high 28 points. The Fresno product went 9-for-14 from the field, 6-for-10 from three-point territory and a perfect 4-for-4 at the line. Amundsen also had two boards and a blocked shot in 33 minutes. The six three-point makes and 10 attempts were single-game career highs.
  • An All-Big West Second Team selection a season ago, Amundsen shot .615 (16-of-26) from the floor and .600 (9-of-15) from deep for the week. The fourth-year Matador whose career began at Boise State, was previously The Big West Player of the Week on Nov. 29, 2021.
