- Fourth-year guard Alexis Tucker poured in a game- and career-high 29 points in UC Santa Barbara’s only contest last week, a thrilling 102-96 triple-overtime road triumph at Southern Utah on Saturday afternoon.
- The native of Hawthorne and second-year transfer from Texas Tech shot 10-for-20 from the field, including 2-of-7 from three-point range, and connected on seven of eight free throws. Tucker narrowly missed a double-double by adding a season-best nine rebounds to share the team high, alongside two steals and an assist over 49 minutes played.
- The victory moved UC Santa Barbara to 4-1 through five games for the first time since 2002-03. Saturday also marked the Gauchos’ first 100-point performance against a Division I opponent in over 20 years.
- Having posted back-to-back 20-point outputs for the first time as a collegian, Tucker leads UCSB and is third in The Big West at 15.8 points per game, while shooting at a .459 clip from the floor, fifth in the league.
- A first-time Big West Player of the Week, Tucker gives UC Santa Barbara two of the first three awards of this 2022-23 season, with the initial honor going to teammate Ila Lane on Nov. 14.
