McGreevy Named Semifinalist For Pitcher of the Year Award

PITCHER OF THE YEAR SEMIFINALISTS

UC Santa Barbara sophomore Michael McGreevy is one of 17 semifinalists for the National Pitcher of the Year Award, presented by the College Baseball Foundation.

McGreevy, initially named to the Pitcher of the Award Watch List in April, leads or ranks among the leaders in several Big West statistical categories. He is first in innings pitched (88.2), second in strikeouts (104), fourth in ERA (2.94) and tied for second in wins (8).

He also ranks second in the NCAA with a 10.4 strikeout-to-walk ratio and fourth in walks allowed per nine innings (1.02).

McGreevy has struck out 10 or more batters in four starts, including a career-high 15 against Cal Poly on April 30. He whiffed 12 hitters in a 10-4 win at No. 22 UCLA on May 14.

He has not issued a walk in seven of his 14 starts, and has handed out just 10 free passes all season.

The award, sponsored by Diamond, will be presented this summer by the CBF.
