Big West Commissioner Dan Butterly announced today the appointment of Kevin Rorke as the conference’s Director of Business Services.
Rorke comes to the Big West from the Mountain West Conference, where he has served as the assistant director of championships the last two years. Rorke oversaw the day-to-day management and operation of various championships, including women’s soccer, women’s swimming and diving, and women’s golf.
A native of Davis, Calif., Rorke also held significant responsibilities on the MW’s business/finance side and in corporate partnerships. He managed a large portion of the conference’s annual budget for championships and its relationship with Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC). Rorke also compiled SAOF documents from institutions and reported spending to the NCAA, and assisted the CFO in transitioning the MW to new accounting software.
“The Big West Conference staff is excited to welcome Kevin Rorke back to his home state of California,” said Butterly. “Kevin was selected from amongst a highly skilled and diverse set of candidates interested in working at the Big West Conference office. His solid knowledge of business/financial services in a conference office, combined with significant experience working in championships and corporate partnerships established him as the right person for our operation and a great addition to our team.”
In his new position, Rorke will manage the general ledger and assist in monitoring and maintaining the conference’s operating budget under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer. He will also oversee Arbiter, the conference’s system for managing schedules and payroll for officials in various sports. Rorke will also work in concert with the business officers and event management staff of the Big West’s 11 institutions.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to join the Big West family. Being a native of California, I grew up following Big West athletics,” said Rorke. “I am excited to get to work and represent the Big West and its world-class institutions under Commissioner Butterly's leadership."
A 2015 graduate of California State University, Chico, with a B.S. in Agriculture Business, Rorke began his career as partnerships coordinator at Fox Sports College Properties in San Diego. He served as an intern for Mountain West Sports Properties in January 2018 before transitioning into a full-time role shortly thereafter with the conference office.
He earned an MBA in Sports Business from San Diego State University in June 2018.
Rorke’s first official day at the Big West will be Thursday, October 1.
