• UC Irvine junior Haleigh Talbert captured Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors after leading her team to a pair of conference victories.
• The 5-foot-4 guard averaged 18.5 points, 5.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals as the Anteaters extended their win streak to five games.
• The wins enabled UCI to tie for second in the Big West and clinch the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament.
• Talbert began the week with 22 points and a career-best eight assists in an 86-76 win over UC Riverside. She made 8-of-15 shots – the eight field goal makes a career-high – with four of those being three-pointers.
• Talbert returned two nights later to score 15 points and add six rebounds, three assists and a steal in a 68-52 triumph at Cal State Fullerton.
• The Texas native hit her fourth triple of the night after the Titans had closed to within one two minutes into the fourth quarter. Her shot sparked an 18-3 run as UCI pulled away comfortably.
• Talbert shot 48.0% (12-of-25) from the field and 47.1% (8-of-17) from distance for the week.
