Sanders Captures Fourth Career Weekly Award In Women's Hoops

• UC Irvine junior Jordan Sanders earned her fourth career Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award after averaging nearly 20 points over two games to open the 2019-20 season.

• The 5-foot-11 forward tallied 39 points, 13 rebounds, a steal and two blocked shots as the Anteaters went 1-1, earning a narrow 79-77 victory over San Jose State before falling 86-57 to No. 6/7 Oregon State on the road.

• Sanders shot 41.5% (17-of-41) from the field and 33.3% (3-of-9) from three-point territory.

• Leading UCI to its third-straight season-opening win, Sanders compiled 16 points and a team-best eight rebounds against San Jose State.

• She followed that up with a 23-point effort in 24 minutes against the top-10 Beavers. Sanders knocked down a career-high three 3-pointers and added five boards and a blocked shot. She shot 9-of-22 overall from the field.
