MEGAN DAY, CAL STATE FULLERTON
WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Freshman • D • La Mirada, Calif. • La Mirada HS
• Cal State Fullerton freshman Megan Day earned her first Big West Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award after helping her team to a 2-0 record in conference play.
• Day, the Titan center back, anchored a stingy defensive effort as her squad yielded just one goal in a pair of victories – 2-1 at Long Beach State and 1-0 at UC Riverside.
• She helped hold the Highlanders to just two shots for the entire match and scored the game-winning goal in the 50th minute. Her first shot attempt hit the crossbar but she gathered the rebound and deposited a shot past the keeper.
• It was Day’s second goal of the year and her first game-winner.
• Behind Day’s all-around effort, the Titans improved to 3-0 in Big West play for the first time since 2013. CSF also was the conference’s first squad to reach 10 wins this season.
