UC Davis led for three quarters, but could not hold on in the fourth as host Utah posted a 69-59 victory in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City.
UC Davis, ranked No. 7 in its NIT quadrant, ends the season at 22-11 after earning its third postseason berth in the last four seasons by winning the program’s third title during that same timespan. The Aggies earned the Big West Conference’s automatic NIT bid as the league’s regular season champions.
The 2017-18 campaign also marked the third time the Aggies won 20 or more games in a season, also within the last four years.
