Cal Poly junior Hannah Gilbert (Morro Bay, Calif./Morro Bay HS) established a career-high for rebounding and helped the program set a single-game record, which garnered her Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award.
The 6-3 forward corralled 17 rebounds to help the Mustangs topple Sacramento State, 97-72, to close out the non-conference schedule. Gilbert’s performance also led to a record-breaking night for the program, which pulled down a single-game best 74 boards as a team.
Gilbert scored a game-high tying 23 points to secure her fifth career double-double of the season. She made 10-of-18 field goal attempts and connected at 3-for-3 from the free throw line.
Gilbert had two blocked shots as part of a solid defensive effort, holding the Hornets to just 21-for-96 shooting. The .219 field goal percentage defense figure was a season-best for the Mustangs.
