Personal and program milestones were attained thanks to Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Ashlee Guay (San Diego, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace), who keyed a pair of important CSUN road victories with outstanding performances.

Guay earned her third weekly citation and the seventh of her career after averaging 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists in Matador wins at Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside.

The 5-7 guard poured in a career-high 33 points in Saturday’s 88-70 triumph at UCR.  She knocked down a career-best 14 field goals (in 18 attempts) as the win vaulted the Matadors into second place in the Big West and extended their winning streak to six straight.  Guay added six rebounds and three assists in helping CSUN improve to 20-9 overall, marking just the second time in the school’s Division I era and the first time since the 1998-99 season that the program reached 20 wins.

Guay contributed 15 points, seven rebounds and nine assists in Thursday’s 65-53 triumph at Titan Gym.  She hit a pair of three-pointers to go along with a steal.

Her 12 assists in two games raised her career total to 520, the eighth-most in Big West history.

For the week, Guay shot 63.3 percent (19-of-30) from the field and 77.8 percent (7-of-9) at the free throw line, while helping head coach Jason Flowers reach his highest win total since taking over the program.

Others nominated:
Dynn Leaupepe (Cal Poly); Kathleen Iwuoha (Cal State Fullerton); Hallie Meneses (Long Beach State); Irene Chavez (UC Irvine) Brittany Crain (UC Riverside); Jasmine Ware (UC Santa Barbara); Shawna-Lei Kuehu (Hawai‘i)
