A pair of UC Davis seniors swept the Big West baseball weekly awards.

Lynch Sets School Record For Single Game RBI

UC Davis senior Nick Lynch (Burlingame, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) captured Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week accolades after posting three multi-hit games and establishing a school record for most RBI in a single game.

The Aggies’ clean-up hitter notched eight RBI to help his team defeat Nevada, 10-4.  Lynch went 3-for-4 with a triple and two home runs in breaking the record.  He slugged a grand slam and a two-run home run to go along with an RBI triple and sac fly as he wore out Wolf Pack pitching.

Helping UC Davis take two out of three on the road against Fresno State, Lynch produced multi-hit efforts in the opening two games.  He opened the series with another three-hit game, lacing a pair of doubles and adding a walk in a 5-4 loss.  In the middle game, he went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Lynch helped the Aggies win their fourth consecutive road series.  He leads the team with 15 doubles, 20 runs scored, and 17 RBI.

Others nominated: Chester Pak (CSUN); Keston Hiura (UC Irvine); Drake Zarate (UC Riverside); Andrew Calica (UC Santa Barbara)

Jacobson Masterful In No Decision Versus Fresno State

Raul Jacobson (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte HS) combined on a three-hit shutout of Fresno State, leading the UC Davis senior to Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors.

The right-hander threw 7 2/3 innings, scattering just two hits and striking out a career-high nine batters.  He allowed just a double in the second and a single in the fifth.

Jacobson set down 10 consecutive Bulldogs at one point and another eight straight later in the game.  It was Jacobson’s second-longest outing of the year (8 1/3 vs. Gonzaga) as his ERA dropped to 2.72 on the season.  The hurler allowed just four base runners on Sunday, and he stranded two of them in scoring position as the Aggies took the 1-0 win with a run in the ninth.

Others nominated:
Rayne Raven (CSUN); Evan Manarino (UC Irvine); Kevin Sprague (UC Riverside); Dillon Tate (UC Santa Barbara)
