Making her Cal State Fullerton debut, Michelle Berry’s 38-point explosion against Portland State earned her Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades.
The 6-2 guard/forward out of Miami, Fla. established a Titan freshman record with the 38-point outburst. She achieved the mark of 13-of-27 shooting, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. Berry also got to the free throw line 16 times and made nine of her attempts.
The performance keyed CSF’s 84-69 win over Portland State, the program’s first season-opening victory since 2011.
Berry chipped in eight rebounds (four offensive) and five assists as she missed a double-double by two boards. In addition, she played all 40 minutes.
