Cal State Northridge teammates Taylor Glover and Brianna Elder swept the Big West Softball Field Player and Pitcher of the Week awards as they helped their team post a 4-0 record.
Glover Continues Hot Rookie Season
Freshman Taylor Glover (Los Angeles, Calif./Mira Costa HS) led Cal State Northridge to a 4-0 record, earning Big West Softball Field Player of the Week honors.
The center fielder hit .533 (8-for-15) with three runs scored and five RBI as the Matadors swept doubleheaders against Utah State and Loyola Marymount. Two of her eight hits went for extra bases. She also walked once and had a pair of stolen bases.
Glover was especially effective in the twinbill sweep of the Lions, when she batted 6-for-8 (.750), and collected three hits and drove in two in both games. She also had a stolen base in each win.
Glover had a double in game one against Utah State and crushed a triple in the final game of the week against Loyola Marymount. She is batting .422 on the season with 10 multi-hit games, and is tied for the team lead with 19 RBI.

Elder Mows Down Opposition
Cal State Northridge junior Brianna Elder (Concord, Calif./Concord HS) garnered Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades after posting a 0.55 ERA in three appearances.
The hurler held Utah State to an unearned run in a 2-1 victory to open the week. She limited the Aggies to six hits and one walk while striking out six.
Elder notched her second straight complete game when the Matadors won a 9-1 game in five innings against Loyola Marymount. She scattered three hits and fanned four. In the game two 7-5 win over the Lions, Elder came on in relief and pitched two-thirds of an inning.
For the week, Elder allowed just one run in 12.2 innings to lower her ERA to 2.04 for the season. She is 12-3 on the year with 82 strikeouts in 89 innings of work. CSUN has won 11 of its last 12 games.
