The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its 2026 All-Region teams, and four student-athletes from The Big West earned high recognition.
Jamie McGaughey was named to the All-West Region Second Team as an infielder after a standout junior campaign for Hawai'i.
McGaughey led The Big West in batting average at .406 while adding 12 home runs, 42 RBI and a .767 slugging percentage across 47 games this season. The junior also posted a .494 on-base percentage and recorded 54 hits, ranking among the conference leaders in multiple offensive categories. Defensively, McGaughey committed just two errors on 204 chances for a .990 fielding percentage.
Three Big West student-athletes garnered All-West Region Third Team distinction, including Taryn Irimata of Hawai'i, Sarah Perez of California State Fullerton, and Maalia Cherry of UC San Diego.
Irimata emerged as one of the top pitchers in The Big West this season after posting a conference-best 2.40 ERA and limiting opposing hitters to a .217 batting average. The sophomore right-hander tallied 12 wins and 79 strikeouts across 113.2 innings pitched while recording 12 complete games and five shutouts during the 2026 campaign.
Perez earned all-region honors following a breakout junior season for the Titans. The junior ranked first among Big West opponents with a .463 batting average, a .503 on-base percentage and 74 hits, with the hit total ranking 26th nationally. Perez also recorded 24 RBI, 13 walks, and 14 stolen bases during the season. Defensively, the Whittier, Calif., native totaled 74 putouts with 103 assists and turned 12 double plays at shortstop.
Cherry collected third-team recognition after producing one of the conference's top power-hitting seasons. The sophomore designated player hit .348 with 15 home runs and 50 RBI while compiling a .720 slugging percentage and .482 on-base percentage. Cherry also drew 32 walks and finished with 95 total bases for the Tritons.
In total, the NFCA selected student-athletes from programs across its 10 regions.
NFCA member head coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2026 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
