Averaging nearly a double-double in limited minutes, Long Beach State junior Devin Hudson (Ontario, Calif./Colony HS) captured the Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor as the 49ers continued their best start since the 1989-90 season.
Hudson averaged 10.0 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from the field as the 49ers toppled West Coast Conference foes Pepperdine (78-69) and San Francisco (70-58). LBSU improved to 7-1 on the year in winning its fourth and fifth consecutive games.
In just 19 minutes played against the Waves, Hudson produced eight points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal.
The 6-3 center recorded her second double-double of the season, and 14th of her career, with 12 points and 10 boards against the Dons in 23 minutes of action. Seven of her rebounds came on the offensive end.
On the week, Hudson led the team in rebounding, offensive rebounds (9) and field goal percentage.
