Senior Erica Mazeau and Lindsey Maricic helped Cal State Fullerton finish non-conference play on a successful note, garnering Big West Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Mazeau Picks Up Pair of Crucial Assists

Erica Mazeau (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) notched Big West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors as the Cal State Fullerton senior assisted on two key goals against West Coast Conference opponents Pepperdine and Gonzaga.

The midfielder helped forge a 1-1 draw on the road against Pepperdine, a team receiving votes in the national polls, as her feed led to Christina Burkenroad's goal at the 39:50 mark to give the Titans the early lead.

Back at home on Sunday against Gonzaga, Mazeau delivered the game-winning assist in the 74th minute with a pass that skidded across the goalmouth and found an open Janali West on the far post.  It was Mazeau's team-leading third assist and the third consecutive match she has provided a helper.

Mazeau, the team's leader in shots (20), was held without a shot in both matches but compiled her 10th and 11th career assists.  That total puts her one short of moving into Fullerton's all-time list and seven back of the career record held by Dolores Browning (1995-98) and Kellie Cox (2001-05).

Others nominated: Elise Krieghoff (Cal Poly); Lyndsey Preston (Cal State Northridge); Celeste Dominguez (Long Beach State); Ashley Edwards (UC Davis)

Maricic Posts Career-High In Saves

Lindsey Maricic (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos HS) persevered amidst an onslaught of shots and emerged with a career-best saves total, which enabled the Cal State Fullerton senior to notch Big West Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Maricic faced 34 shots and defensed 13 corners against a persistent Pepperdine offense, but made a career-high 15 saves to preserve a 1-1 draw on the road.  Maricic played all 110 minutes of the match against a receiving votes Waves squad.

The 15 saves ranked second on the Fullerton single-game records list, trailing only the 21 that Heidi Clauss amassed against Pepperdine in 1993 – the program's first season.  The 34 shots also represented the second-most against the Titans in the history of the program, behind the 38 that CSF withstood in that 1993 match.

Maricic's 57 saves this season leave her just one shy of the school's single-season top 10 list.

Others nominated:  Leandra Walker (Cal State Northridge); Kaci McCain (Long Beach State); Taylor Jern (UC Davis)
