Hosting the Libby Matson Tournament in Stockton, Calif., the Pacific Tigers dominated the diamond in four of their five matchups in the last weekend of non-conference competition. Awarded for their outstanding performances, junior Nikkie Armagost was named Big West Player of the Week and sophomore Tori Shepard was recognized as Big West Pitcher of Week.
Armagost Hits Second Recognition
Finishing the week with an impressive .471 batting average, Armagost led the Tigers in their winning weekend at home going 8-of-17 at the plate. This is Armagost’s second Big West Player of the Week recognition this season and sixth career Big West weekly honor.
To start it off the Andover, Kan. native went 2-for-4 against Princeton in a 5-0 shutout for Pacific, continued by a perfect 3-for-3 the following night including a three-run homer to take a 3-1 victory over San Diego State. In the weekend closer, doubleheader against Saint Mary’s, Armagost plated the lone run in the first game for Pacific in a 3-1 loss, but came back and went 2-for-3 with the game-winning RBI to take a 7-0 finish on the weekend.
For the week the right-handed Tiger averaged .471 at the plate, bringing in 7 RBI, scoring 3 runs with three doubles and a home run.

Shepard Tosses An Untouchable Weekend
The Lodi, Calif. native collected two of the four wins last week and one save for the Tigers, holding her opponents to a 0.59 batting average across 16 innings. This is Shepard’s first recognition for Pitcher of the Week this season and second career Big West Pitcher of the Week award.
In her two-complete games pitched and a closer, the sophomore held her contests in the box to a low three hits while facing 55 batters. In her leadoff performance against Princeton, Shepard gave up a double before shutting down the Tigers for seven straight innings to follow, with a 5-0 victory for Pacific. She followed with a two-inning shutout for her sixth save of the season and a close 4-3 win over Princeton in game two. To close the weekend, she pitched her second complete shutout in a 7-0 victory over Saint Mary’s.
On the week Shepard pitched 16 innings, allowing three hits, no runs and five strikeouts.
