Big West Conference Commissioner Dennis Farrell announced today that conference television partners ESPN and FOX Sports Net have made their “Wild Card” selections for two men’s basketball telecasts on Saturday, February 4.
ESPNU will air the UC Santa Barbara at Cal State Fullerton game at 6:00 p.m. (PST). UCSB is 2-0 in the early stages of Big West play with victories against league title contenders Cal Poly and Cal State Fullerton. The Titans look to avenge that 77-64 loss to the Gauchos on Jan. 5 in a return matchup at Titan Gym, where they are currently 6-1 this season. CSF picked up the 300th win in the program’s Division I history at Titan Gym on Jan. 2 against Pacific.
FOX Sports West will televise the Cal State Northridge at Long Beach State game at 7:30 p.m. (PST). The 49ers occupy the top spot in the Big West standings at 3-0. They own a 15-game winning streak in the Walter Pyramid and have attracted three of the top six Big West home crowds this season. LBSU is 10-6 overall after facing the nation’s toughest non-conference schedule and coming away with wins against No. 9 Pittsburgh, No. 14 Xavier and Auburn.
FSN also announced that the tip time for the Big West Women’s Basketball Tournament championship game moved from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. PRIME TICKET will carry the action on Saturday, March 10 at Honda Center.
