Larry Anderson (Long Beach, Calif./Jordan HS) earned his second straight Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor with solid all-around efforts in Long Beach State victories over Cal State Northridge and UC Irvine.
Anderson contributed in all phases of the game, averaging 20.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game. He also shot a robust 66.7% (18 of 27) from the field as the two wins improved the 49ers' conference record to 4-0.
In an 85-71 win against Cal State Northridge, Anderson collected 19 points, six rebounds, four assists and a career-high tying five steals, while shooting 9 of 12 from the floor.
Anderson scored a team-high 22 points in LBSU's 86-78 triumph against UC Irvine on Saturday. The junior tallied 13 of those points in the second half to help the 49ers rally from an eight point halftime deficit. Anderson complemented his stat line with eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. He also was accurate again from the field, hitting 9 of 15 shots overall and 1 of 2 from three-point territory.
Since returning from a broken hand that forced him to miss six games, Anderson is shooting 73.8% and averaging 19.3 points per game through four league contests.
