Freshman Rebecca Patton's run-scoring single during the bottom of the seventh inning provided the Big West Conference-leading Cal Poly softball team a 7-6 victory during the opening game of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader at Bob Janssen Field and the righthander returned during the nightcap to strike out a career-best five Cal State Fullerton hitters and earn her second win as the Mustangs triumphed in game No. 2, 3-0.

Matadors Sweep Saturday Twinbill against Pacific

Petty, Stephan Lift 49ers to Doubleheader Split at UC Davis

Sophomore Taylor Petty lifted the Long Beach State softball team (20-19, 4-4 BWC) to a Big West doubleheader split against UC Davis with her second one-hit shutout of the season. The 49ers dropped the opener, 5-0, before bouncing back with a 2-0 victory Saturday afternoon at LaRue Field.
