Emilie Johnson came up big for UC Santa Barbara in a pair of important conference wins last week, netting the second Big West Player of the Week award for the guard this season.

The sophomore kicked off her week with 21 points on 6-of-14 shooting in the Gaucho win over Cal State Northridge. Johnson hit three times from downtown, nailed six of eight attempts from the foul line and added four assists and a steal in 36 minutes.

She then followed that performance with a 27-point effort against second place Cal Poly. The point total was just two off her career-best effort as she shot 10-of-15 from the floor. Johnson also hit a career-high typing five threes, added a personal-best eight assists and collected four steals in 39 minutes.

For the week, Johnson averaged 24.0 points, 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals. She shot 55.2% from the floor, an even 50% from the three-point line and 80% from the foul stripe. Even more impressive was that she played 75 of the total 80 minutes over the two contests.
