A four-year vet and a rookie making her mark headline the weekly softball honors as UC Santa Barbara's Christine Ramos and Cal State Fullerton's Krystal Heinle were named the Big West Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

UCSB's Ramos Nearly Perfect in Series Against UC Davis

UC Santa Barbara second baseman Christine Ramos (Long Beach, Calif./Lakewood HS) was a constant offensive presence in the Gaucho sweep over UC Davis, netting her Big West Player of the Week accolades.

The senior had two multi-hit games against the Aggies who entered the weekend allowing opposing hitters to bat just .234.

After starting the series with one hit in three at-bats, Ramos collected six straight hits over games two and and three. Her top all-around showing was in the finale where she collected a RBI, scored two runs and added a stolen base.

For the series, Ramos hit .778 (7-9) with a RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. She now has a single-season UCSB record 70 hits on the year and leads the conference in both hits and most three-hit games (8).

CSF's Heinle Shuts Down CSUN in Key Series Win for Titans

Cal State Fullerton pitcher Krystal Heinle (Westminster, Calif./Marina HS) posted a pair of stellar pitching performances against Cal State Northridge in an important series for the Titans, netting her Big West Pitcher of the Week honors.

The redshirt freshman posted a complete game in the game two win, allowing three hits, three runs (all earned), walking one and striking out seven in the 4-3 Titan victory.

Trusted with the ball in the finale, Heinle delivered an exceptional start to give CSF the series sweep. She allowed just one hit, an unearned run and struck out four over seven innings in the 3-1 win. She faced just five over the minimum in the victory and allowed the unearned run in the seventh frame.

For the series, Heinle was 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in 14.0 innings. She allowed just four hits, four runs, three earned runs, walked one, struck out 11 and allowed Matador  hitters to bat just .087 against her.
