Sparked by fifth-inning run-scoring singles from senior third baseman Cristen Lee and senior shortstop Melissa Pura, the Cal Poly softball team matched the second-longest winning streak during the program’s 15-year Division I tenure at 11-straight contests with a 4-0 victory against BYU Saturday afternoon at the Sacramento State-hosted Capital Classic. The second half of Cal Poly’s scheduled doubleheader at Shea Stadium versus UNLV, set for 5 p.m., was cancelled due to inadequate sunlight and will not be rescheduled.

Matadors Sweep Cal State Bakersfield in Saturday Doubleheader

The Cal State Northridge softball team (20-9) swept a doubleheader Saturday against Cal State Bakersfield, 10-5 and 2-1 (8), at the Roadrunner Softball Complex. Jaclyn Rymer finished the day a perfect 8-for-8 at the plate and Debbie Duran earned her league-leading 14th win of the season and nailed down the save in the second game.

Tigers Earn A Day Two Split At The Stanford Invitational

Behind a one-out, seventh inning rally in game two of the day for the Pacific softball team, the Tigers earned a split in play at the Stanford Invitational, falling 3-1 to Winthrop before defeating Princeton, 6-5. The Tigers improved their record to 14-13 overall and 2-1 at the tournament with the split on Saturday, March 21, in day two action at the tournament.

LBSU Falls Short in Both Games of Doubleheader at No. 6 Arizona State

The Long Beach State softball team (19-13) dropped both games of its doubleheader with defending national champion and sixth-ranked Arizona State (28-5) Saturday afternoon in front of 1,323 at Farrington Stadium. LBSU suffered a narrow 5-3 defeat in the opener before falling, 10-6, to close out the three-game series.
