Two solid all-around efforts propelled Pacific's Amber Simmons to her third Big West Player of the Week of the season. She previously won the award December 29 and November 24.
Simmons, a native of Chico, Calif., started her week with a 20-point, six-rebound effort in Pacific’s home loss to UC Riverside. She shot 9-of-15 from the field, hit both of her free throw attempts and committed just one turnover in her 31 minutes of action.
Simmons saved her best for the next game against Long Beach State, a 33-point, 10-rebound effort in the Tigers’ double overtime win over the 49ers.
She she 12-of-21 from the field, 9-for-14 from the charity stripe and added two blocks, two steals and two assists in 46 grueling minutes.
It was her sixth double-double, her 10th 20+ point performance and the 12th best single-game scoring performance in program history.
