Stapf Earns First Women's Water Polo Weekly Award

Cal State Northridge goalkeeper Jillian Stapf (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) is the first Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week honoree after she averaged 12.6 saves in six matches.

The junior led the Matadors to a 2-4 record as she posted 13 saves in a 6-4 win over Indiana at the Michigan Invitational and 10 more versus Cal Baptist in a 15-3 triumph at the Lancer Mini.

Stapf posted double-digit saves in four of the six matches, including 19 apiece in the opening two matches of the season versus No. 7 San Jose State and No. 8 Arizona State in the Michigan Invitational.  In a rematch against the Sun Devils at the Lancer Mini, Stapf garnered nine saves in a narrow 7-6 loss.

Stapf now has 699 career saves and stands only 62 short of the record.
