Sims Collects Weekly Honors With A Pair Of 20-Plus Performances

Long Beach State posted its first back-to-back victories of the season last week behind the explosiveness of junior guard Lauren Sims, which earned her Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolades.  This is the first honor of the season for Sims.
   
Sims notched her third and fourth consecutive 20-plus scoring games last week as she tallied a game-high 21 points against Cal State Northridge and tied a career-best 22 points two days later versus Texas-Pan American.
   
In the 63-50 win over the Matadors, the Fullerton, Calif., native added 10 rebounds to her impressive 21 scoring performance to post her first double-double of the season, second of her career.  She also went 6-of-9 from the line and dished three assists.
   
In nonconference action against Texas-Pan American, Sims reached her career-best mark in scoring after shooting 7-of-11 (.636) from the field.  She also tallied four assists and three rebounds in the 78-58 victory.
   
For the week, Sims fired 6-of-10 from behind the arc and posted a .591 field goal percentage.  She also averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest.
