An outstanding performance on the mound earned Cal State Fullerton's Jeff Kaplan Easton Big West Pitcher of the Week, while UC Davis' Jake Jefferies explosiveness at the plate secured Easton Big West Player of the Week, for the week ending April 13. This is the first honor of the season for both athletes and the fourth week in-a-row a Titan has garnered weekly accolades.

The Titan's Friday-night starter tied a career high in strikeouts in a complete game shutout against Big West foe Cal State Northridge. Kaplan, who fanned 11 batters, held a Matadors squad that posted 17 runs the following two days, to just five hits in the opening-series contest. It was the third time in Kaplan’s career he had thrown a complete-game shutout and the second time the senior right-hander struck out 11. The Dana Point, Calif., native retired 13 of 14 batters and improved to 5-1 on the year.

Jefferies lifted UC Davis to a 3-1 week with team-leading totals of 10 hits, five doubles, 10 RBI, 15 total bases and a .526 batting average. He also scored eight runs for the Aggies, which included back-to-back three-run performances in the final two games against the Gauchos. In the final contest at UC Santa Barbara, the junior catcher had five hits, scored three runs and tallied six RBI off three two-run doubles. The fnal two-run double came in the 11th inning to bring home the eventual game-winning run.

Earlier in the week against No. 10 Stanford, the Merced, Calif., native was intentionally walked to load the bases in the ninth inning which led to the eventual game-tying run as the next batter was walked. For the week, he notched a hit in all four Aggies contests and multiple hits in three outings.
