UC Riverside's Larry Cunningham (Downey, Calif./Downey HS) became the school's all-time leading scorer and averaged 26.0 points per game in two Highlander wins, topping that off with his second career Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week award.

Cunningham shot 57.1% (16 of 28) from the field and 87.5% (17 of 19) at the free throw line as the Highlanders posted a win over league member UC Irvine (85-76) and non-conference foe Hawai'i (79-62).

The senior guard erupted for a season-high 31 points on 10 of 15 shooting against Hawai'i, breaking a 36-year old school scoring record in the process.  A free throw with 1:10 remaining gave Cunningham 1,390 career points, surpassing the old mark of 1,386 that Howard Lee fashioned from 1969-72.  Cunningham made 8 of 8 from the free throw line and hit 3 of 6 from distance against the Rainbow Warriors.

In the win against UC Irvine, Cunningham tossed in a team-high 21 points, aided by a solid 9 of 11 effort at the charity stripe.  He added two rebounds, two assists and three steals in 34 minutes.

Cunningham now has seven games of 20-plus points on the season.

Others nominated: Josh Akognon, Cal State Fullerton; Darren Fells, UC Irvine; Chad Troyer, Pacific
