Katie Holloway's last-second shot led Cal State Northridge to its first victory of the 2007-08 season, in turn earning her Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors, for the week ending Feb. 25. This is the second honor of Holloway's career, with her first being awarded during the 2006-07 season.

In the 73-72 win at Cal State Bakersfield, the Lake Stevens, Wash., native recorded her third double-double of the season, scoring 26 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Her most important points came in the final 2.2 seconds of the contest, when she hit a lay-up to propel the Matadors to their first win of the year. Against the Roadrunners, Holloway shot .750 (12-of-16) from the field and registered four blocks, improving her season average to 1.41 BPG.

Two nights later in the Matador's one-point loss to Long Beach State, Holloway recorded her second straight 20-point contest, posting a team-high 23 points. She was efficient from the floor, shooting 82% (9-of-11) in the game, while scoring nearly half the team's point total in the 49-48 conference loss.

For the week, the 6-foot-four center fired a .778 field goal percentage and averaged 24.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest.

Cal State Northridge returns to action this week when it entertains Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine. The Titans visit The Matadome Thursday evening and the Anteaters make the trek up the 405 Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

Others nominated: Kirsten Commins (UCD), Janae Young (PAC), Brittany Waddell (UCR), Karina Figueroa (LBSU), Megan Harrison (CP).
