Cal State Fullerton senior
Scott Cutley (Inglewood, Calif./Kent State/Westchester HS) earned his second career Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor after posting consecutive 20-point performances and shooting over 70 percent from the field in conference wins against UC Davis and Pacific.
The 6-5 forward hit a combined 19 of 27 (70.4%) field goals, including 4 of 5 three-point attempts in the two double-digit home victories.
In a 20-point win against UC Davis, Cutley held his team together in the early going as he was the only Titan to score in the first five minutes of what became a 19-7 deficit. He then had two of the first three buckets in a 10-0 run that broke the game open midway through the second half.
Cutley finished the UCD game with 20 points and 10 boards for his sixth double-double of the year.
Against Pacific, Cutley again inflicted damage on an opponent in the second half, scoring 11 of Fullerton's first 23 points in the second stanza. His scoring surge opened up a nine-point lead with 11 minutes to play. In addition, he was instrumental in limiting Pacific's top frontcourt player, Anthony Brown, to seven points and three rebounds along with five turnovers. Cutley hit 10 of 13 from the field and nailed all three 3-pointers en route to a season-high 24 points. He added six assists and a career-high five steals against the Tigers.
