Cal Poly's Kristina Santiago earned her first career Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolade after a team best performance against Houston last week. Santiago is the second Mustang to earn such honors this season, with Megan Harrison receiving the weekly award on Dec. 1.

The 6-2 forward scored a game-high 22 points in Cal Poly’s lone contest of the week against Houston. Her 22-point performance was just one shy of her career high. Santiago also tallied a team-best eight rebounds and shot a game-high .714 field goal percentage. The Santa Maria, Calif., native dished out four assists to tie her career mark.

Cal Poly returns to the court Thursday, Dec. 18 when the Mustangs visit Illinois-Chicago. Tipoff is slated for 5:00 p.m. (PST).

Others nominated: Lauren Juric ( UC Davis), Kemie Nkele (UC Riverside), Jenna Green (UC Santa Barbara)
