Pacific's Karen Dawkins and Cal State Fullerton's Toni Thomas celebrate the new year with Co-Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors, for the week ending Dec. 30. This is the first honor of the season for both athletes.

Dawkins scored a season-high 25 points in the Tigers 63-52 win over Idaho on Sunday, Dec. 30. The Colorado Springs, Colo., native dominated the middle throughout the game, but was almost perfect in the first half, going 6-for-6 from the field and 7-8 from the free throw line. Her performance in the first half allowed her teammates to get free in the second half which ultimately led the Tigers to the victory.

In Friday’s outing, Dawkins notched 15 points and seven rebounds in the Tigers’ 84-64 loss to Portland. For the week, the 6-1 junior averaged 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.5 steals per game. Dawkins also tallied a .571 field goal percentage, while shooting .889 from the charity stripe.

Thomas, the Big West Conference's leading scorer with an average of 18.1 points per game, netted a game-high 29 points in the Titans' last-second road loss to Saint Mary’s on December 29. The 29-point performance helped the San Bernardino, Calif., native leapfrog four players to move into 12th place on the school’s all-time scoring charts with 1,105 points. She needs just four more to match Tamara Quinn (2000-04) for No. 11 with 1,109.

The 5-10 forward hit a career-high four three-pointers in five attempts to help extend her double-digit scoring streak to 31 consecutive games. She posted a Titan season- high 12-of-20 from the field. Thomas' scoring performance was her 20th career 20-point game and she has now scored in double figures in 60 of her 70 career games. She led the team in scoring for the seventh time in 10 games this season and led the team in rebounding for the ninth time this year
