Lisa McBride begins the new year with a career high performance to earn the first Big West Women's Player of the Week honor of the 2007-08 season. This also marks the first weekly accolade of McBride’s career.
In the meeting with the Oregon State Beavers, McBride came off the bench to record a career-high and team-high 23 points, but the Mustangs fell short and dropped the season opener, 73-64. The Tucson, Ariz., native posted a team-high seven rebounds and recorded one block. She missed just one shot attempt on the day, sinking both three-point attempts and all five free throw attempts, for a .889 field goal percentage (8-for-9). In 28 minutes of action, the 6-2 forward did not commit a turnover.
Cal Poly returns to action Tuesday evening when they visit San Jose State. The Mustangs follow that up with a home contest against Houston Thursday, Nov. 15 at 5:00 p.m.
Other nominated: Jessica Campbell (UCD), Andrea Swanson (PAC), and Brittany Waddell (UCR).
