Jessica Wilson ( Sacramento, Calif./Laguna Creek HS) led UC Santa Barbara to a perfect 2-0 mark last week, extending the Gauchos' win streak to three, to earn Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week, for the week ending Jan. 7. This is the first accolade of the season for Wilson and UC Santa Barbara.

The 5-10 guard averaged 14 points per game, 9.0 assists per game and 7.0 rebounds per game in the Gauchos’ back-to-back conference wins over Long Beach State and UC Irvine.

In Saturday's 86-67 win over UC Irvine, Wilson dished a career-high 12 assists and score 15 points. Her 12 assists is also the league's top single-game performance of the season. Earlier in the week Wilson tallied 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists to guide UCSB to a 71-60 win over the 49ers.

Wilson's efforts helped improve the Gauchos to a 7-8 overall mark and a 3-1 mark in Big West play, tying UC Riverside for first in the conference. The defending co-champions return to the court for two nonconference matchups against Utah Valley (1/11) State and UC Davis (1/13). Both games tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
