Pacific junior Gina Carbonatto (Lake Stevens, WA/Lake Stevens HS) earned Big West Softball Player of the Week honors after reaching base safely in 10 of her 13 plate appearances in a conference series versus UC Santa Barbara.

The 5-6 outfielder was a constant nuisance to Gaucho pitching, batting .500 (3-for-6) to go along with seven walks for the week. She posted a .769 on base percentage in helping the Tigers overcome a loss in the series opener and win the final two games of the series.

Carbonatto was successful reaching base in all four plate appearances in the series-opening 4-3 loss, going 2-for-2 with two walks, a run scored and an RBI. She went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, two walks and a stolen base in an 8-0, five-inning win in game two. Although hitless in the finale, Carbonatto drew three more free passes and scored a run in the 6-1 victory on Sunday.

With her second hit of the series, Carbonatto moved into 10th place on Pacific's career hits list with 185. She is just 46 hits shy of the all-time record set by Becky Suttmann (1982-85).

Long Beach State junior Michelle Turner (Buena Park, CA/UCLA) set a conference record with her fifth Big West Pitcher of the Week selection, thanks to two more stellar performances that included her sixth shutout of the season.

The right-hander went 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA against Big West foe Cal Poly, increasing her league-leading win total to 16. She allowed just one run in 14 innings of work and did not walk a batter while striking out nine.

Turner went the distance in a 3-1 series-opening victory. She scattered five hits and struck out four with the only blemish coming on a fourth inning homer. In Sunday's rubber game, Turner tossed a complete game four-hit shutout as the 49ers held off the Mustangs 1-0. She fanned five batters and extended her streak without a walk to 16 straight innings.

For good measure, Turner had the game-winning RBI with a first inning RBI single in game three.
