Sophomore Katie Holloway recorded her first career double-double, posting season highs in points (17) and rebounds (11), in the Matadors’ 77-62 upset win at Long Beach State on Thursday, Feb. 23 to earn Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors, for the week ending Feb. 26.
In just 21 minutes, Holloway made 7-of-13 from the floor and made all three attempts from the free throw line. Against Pacific, Holloway shot .750 from the floor (6-of-8) in 20 minutes of action. She also grabbed two rebounds and recorded two blocked shots. During Cal State Northridge’s three-game winning streak, the Lake Stevens, Wash., native averaged 13.7 points and 6.7 rebounds. The 6-4 center shot .640 (16-for-25) from the floor and .900 (9-for-10) from the free throw line.
This is the second time this season that a Matador has won this award. Jamie McCaa received such honors on Dec. 27, 2005.
