Cal Poly’s Anderson Grabs Big West's Weekly Honor

Sparkle Anderson's explosiveness guided Cal Poly to two wins and earned her Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors, for the week ending Nov. 26. The Mustangs currently lead the conference with a 3-2 record.

In Monday's game against San Jose State, the San Diego, Calif., native tallied ten points and added two rebounds and three assists. Against Portland she established a new career high with nine steals, which is the top mark by a Cal Poly player this season. In the 77-75 overtime win, Anderson shot 7-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from the charity line.

For the week she averaged 14 points, five steals and four assists per game, while posting a .524 shooting percentage that included a season-best single-game high of .636 against the Pilots. Anderson was the only Mustang to score in double-digits in both games last week.

Cal Poly returns to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 28 when they host Loyola Marymount at 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs also face San Francisco on Saturday when they entertain the Dons at Mott Gym for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff.
