Cal State Fullerton's Bashor Stages Grand Finale
Cal State Fullerton senior Lindsey Bashor (Riverside, CA/Iowa) provided rare heroics not once, but twice in earning Big West Softball Player of the Week accolades as the Titans swept the final regular season conference series against Cal State Northridge.
The outfielder connected for a pair of home runs – both grand slams – to help the Titans close out the regular season on a nine-game winning streak. For the week, Bashor hit .545 (6-for-11) with three runs scored and nine RBI. She tallied a 1.182 slugging percentage and .583 on base percentage against the Matadors.
In the opening game of the series, Bashor slammed her first grand slam on an 0-2 pitch to put the Titans up 5-0. CSF went on to win 6-3. She scored the winning run in the second game of the doubleheader as CSF was victorious 5-1. Bashor finished that contest 3-for-4 with an RBI and added a stolen base. In her final regular season game as a Titan, Bashor was instrumental in an 8-3 victory after going 2-for-3 with a run scored and four RBI. The big blow came in the third inning when Bashor slugged a home run with the bases loaded, her eighth of the season, putting the Titans up 7-1. She added a double and a walk in the contest.
Pacific's King A Royal Pain To Utah State In The Circle
Pacific senior Natalie King (Huntington Beach, CA/Texas) closed out her collegiate career in dominating fashion by not allowing an earned run in two appearances against Utah State, garnering the right-hander Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week honors.
King went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA for the week. She pitched 12.0 innings, allowing just six hits and an unearned run while striking out 15. She opened the series on Friday against the Aggies with six solid innings, yielding just three hits while fanning nine in a 6-2 triumph.
She followed that up with a complete game three-hit shutout in an 8-0 run-rule victory in six innings on Saturday. Despite allowing five walks, King struck out six Aggies and improved to 17-8 on the season. Her 17 wins gives King a new personal career-high.
