Pacific senior Christian Maraker (Varberg, Sweden/Vastergardskolan) garnered Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors, averaging a double-double as the Tigers picked up a key road win and nearly upset a top 25 team in a 1-1 week.
The 6-9 forward posted 17.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game for the week. He hit 44.0 (11-of-25) percent from the floor and sank 78.6 (11-of-14) percent from the free throw line.
Maraker turned in a career-high 43 minutes in Pacific’s 75-71 overtime win over San Francisco on Wednesday. He tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the year. He added three assists. In overtime, his three points and two rebounds helped clinch the victory for the Tigers. Maraker's free throw with 27 ticks left in regulation knotted the game at 67-67 and set up the overtime session. Eight of his 10 rebounds came after halftime.
He posted his fourth double-double of the year with 21 points and 10 rebounds in Pacific's bid to upset No. 20 Nevada on Saturday. Despite the 77-70 loss to the Wolf Pack, Maraker's 21 points were a season-high. He hit 7 of 16 shots from the floor and knocked down 5 of 6 from the charity stripe. He added a block and a steal versus the Wolf Pack.
