Cheryl Wong joined The Big West team as Associate Commissioner for Championships and Sport Administration for the 11-institution NCAA Division I conference
in March 2024.
In her role, Wong serves on the senior staff and spearheads the planning and execution of all Big West championship events. She also serve as the lead sport administrator for multiple sports, including men's and women's volleyball, men's water polo and softball. In 2024-25, the total number of Big West championships expanded to 21 with the addition of conference championships in men’s and women’s swimming and diving, baseball and softball.
Wong most recently served as the Associate Commissioner, Sport Management and Championships at the Pac-12 Conference. In eleven years with the Pac-12, she served as the sport liaison for 12 Olympic sports, implemented two inaugural championships and transitioned five championships to upgraded venues. Wong also led the Pac-12 Sustainability Platform and assisted in the launch of the Pac-12's international basketball games.
Wong has held a variety of positions in nearly 20 years in collegiate and professional athletics, starting as an athletic trainer at UCLA with stops in marketing and corporate sponsorship for the Bruins. Making an indelible mark in stadium and event operations, she has had stints with four professional teams in the NFL and NBA. Prior to joining the Pac-12 Conference office, Wong oversaw the travel operations for the athletic department at the University of California, Berkeley. She completed an undergraduate degree at UCLA and holds a master’s degree from the University of Miami.
Wong served as an executive board member for the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) from 2018-25, is an active member of Women Leaders in College Sports and an alumna of the NCAA's Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute.
