Angie Allen joined The Big West as Assistant Commissioner for Student-Athlete Programs for the 11-institution NCAA Division I conference in March 2024 and was named Assistant Commissioner for Compliance and Student-Athlete Engagement in the summer of 2024.
In this role, Allen will be the primary liaison with The Big West Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Big West Undivided, the league's diversity, equity and inclusion committee, as well as serve as the Conference’s primary compliance and governance administrator and as the liaison to the Big West Faculty Athletics Representatives. Allen’s leadership role will include working in concert with student-athletes to develop programming to promote engagement on their campuses and in their communities, organizing and collecting membership votes on various NCAA proposals and legislation and providing education and interpretations of conference and NCAA rules to member institutions.
Allen will also have sport and championship oversight for multiple sports and championships.
Allen joins The Big West from the Missouri Valley Conference after serving as Assistant Commissioner for Special Projects. At the MVC, Allen's duties included serving as primary liaison for the Missouri Valley Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, oversight of the league’s annual Hall of Fame ceremony, coordination of select student-athlete award banquets, sport supervision of men’s and women’s golf, women’s soccer and women’s swimming and diving. Allen also managed championship hospitality functions and was a member of the MVC’s marketing team. Prior to the Missouri Valley, Allen was the Big 12 Conference Championships Assistant.
A former rowing student-athlete at Kansas, Allen earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management and a minor in both business and leadership studies. Allen was a three-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 Team while also participating in NCAA SAAC and serving as the Big 12 Conference SAAC Chair and conference autonomy representative during her tenure. Allen also holds a master’s degree in Sport Law and Business from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State.
