Offensive Player of the Week  Cherrie Cox, Long Beach State | Senior • Forward • Torrance, Calif.

• Long Beach State forward Cherrie Cox struck twice in a road victory to claim Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors for Sept. 21. This is the second time Cox has claimed a weekly award this season (Aug. 24), but the sixth time overall being recognized (OPOTW, Oct. 9, 27, 2023 | FOTW Sept. 5, Oct. 17, 2022). 

• Cox opened the scoring unassisted in the fourth minute before finding the net again in the 31st, finishing the 3-0 win at Nevada with two goals on four shots, all on target. It marked the forward's third multi-goal performance of the season.

• The Torrance, Calif., native has scored in five consecutive matches and leads the Beach with 10 goals and 21 points through nine contests. Cox now owns 33 career goals, tied for second in program history, and 78 points across 57 appearances.

• LBSU closed the week with a clean sheet on the road, securing a 3-0 victory over the Wolf Pack.

Defensive Player of the Week  Mikayla O'Brien, California Baptist | Fifth • Defender • Fontana, Calif.

• California Baptist goalkeeper Mikayla O'Brien turned in another clean sheet to secure Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors for Sept. 21. This is the second time O'Brien has earned a weekly honor this season (Aug. 17). 

• O'Brien played all 90 minutes and stopped both shots placed on target to record a fourth individual shutout of the season.

• The Fontana, Calif., native now has 17 clean sheets in a CBU uniform.

• The Lancers have posted six consecutive shutouts and remain the only NCAA Division I women's soccer team yet to concede a goal this season.

Rookie of the Week  Olivia Schiel, UC San Diego • Freshman • Midfielder • Seattle, Wash.

• UC San Diego midfielder Olivia Shih contributed to both Triton goals to earn Big West Rookie of the Week honors for Sept. 21. This is the first weekly award of Schiel's career.

• Shih recorded a second collegiate goal and first career assist while playing 67 minutes against LMU. 

• The Seattle, Wash., native placed the lone shot attempt on target and made an impact at both ends of the field.

• Shih's three-point effort helped UC San Diego secure a 2-1 victory over the Lions.
