Offensive Player of the Week  Hailey Brockway, CSUN | Senior • Outside Hitter • Graham, Wash.

• After powering CSUN to a perfect weekend, Hailey Brockway has claimed Big West Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 14, a first career weekly honor of any variety. Brockway is the first Matador to win a weekly offensive award since the first week of the 2024 season and just the third offensive honoree in the last decade. 

• Brockway named Linda Murphy Ridge Invitational MVP following the winning weekend that opened with 19 kills on .333 hitting with 11 digs, three blocks and three aces in a five-set win over UNLV.  

• In Saturday’s four-setter against San Francisco the outside hitter from Graham, Wash., connected for a career-high 26 kills while hitting a career-best .345 on 55 swings with a pair of aces.  

• Brockway capped the weekend with 12 kills and eight digs in a 3-0 sweep over Fresno State.   

• The senior leads The Big West in both kills (4.36) and points (4.91) per set with both figures good for top 20 marks in NCAA Division I.

Defensive Player of the Week  Lani Toutai, Utah Valley | Senior • Libero • West Jordan, Utah

• Anchoring the Utah Valley defense in a 2-1 weekend, Lani Toutai has been named Big West Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 14. Toutai is the first Wolverine women’s volleyball player to earn weekly honors in their first year in The Big West. 

• Toutai finished the weekend with 65 digs and a 5.00 digs per set average to go along with 16 assists and four aces.  

• The senior libero tallied 13 or more digs in each match, including 20 in the five-set victory at Kansas City, while helping with nine assists to the UVU offense and adding three service aces in the team’s first win of the season.   

• The product of West Jordan, Utah, set a career-high with 32 digs along with five assists in Saturday’s victorious effort in five against Radford. 

• Toutai is currently leading The Big West with an average of 4.64 digs per set.

Setter of the Week  Madi Maxwell, Long Beach State | Junior • Setter • Newhall, Calif.

• Helping Long Beach State string together six wins in a row, Madi Maxwell has claimed back-to-back honors as Big West Setter of the Week for a fifth career weekly setter distinction. 

• Maxwell’s home weekend saw the Beach hit .242 overall with wins over Brown, San Jose State and LMU while averaging 8.09 assists, 2.73 digs and 1.73 kills per set through 11 frames.  

• The junior opened the weekend with eight kills, eight digs and 31 assists in a win over Bears, and followed that effort with 15 digs and 31 assists with eight more kills against the Spartans.  

• In Sunday’s sweep of the Lions, Long Beach State hit .282 as a team as the Newhall, Calif., native, distributed 27 assists with seven digs.

Rookie of the Week  Gia Rivera, UC San Diego | Freshman • Outside Hitter • Redwood City, Calif.

• UC San Diego’s Gia Rivera has been voted Big West Rookie of the Week for Sept. 14, after putting up big numbers away from home. 

• Rivera averaged 3.50 kills, 0.90 digs and 0.40 blocks to accumulate 37.0 points over 10 sets, hitting .237 for the Tritons. 

• In a five-set match at New Mexico the outside hitter from Redwood City, Calif., put down a career-high 20 kills while hitting .279 to go along with four blocks and three digs. 

• Rivera recorded 13 kills with five digs at UTEP to notch a fourth match of the young season to strike for double figures.
